- With your head over the ball, time the landing of your non-shooting foot so it's even with the ball as you strike it
- Your non-shooting foot should be a few inches away from the ball
- Point your non-shooting foot toward your target (far post, near post, dead center)
- Quickly swing your shooting leg back from the hip and flex your knee so that your heel is near your backside
- Lock the ankle of your shooting foot and keep your toes pointed toward the ground
