Without Derek Jeter in the game, crouched low over the plate with his bat fidgeting in the air, the Yankees are a strange and mournful sight. The de facto face of the franchise played in just 17 games during the 2013 season after a plethora of recurring injuries derailed his season. The Pinstripes struggled without their Captain on the field, missing the playoffs for just the third time since 2000. With the retirement of Mariano Rivera and the loss of Robinson Cano to the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees need Jeter back on the diamond more than ever, and New York fans need to see his familiar face to calm their frayed nerves.
