All athletes want to be strong, but speed is just as important as strength.
"Today's athletes want to be bigger, but the most important thing is speed," says Scott Cochran, director of strength and conditioning for the University of Alabama football team.
To apply power gains to their speed performance, Crimson Tide players perform these speed drills as active rest between sets of weight room lifts.
How to Do It:
Pick one of these three movements, and perform them for 30 seconds between sets of your other lifts.
- Jumping Rope
- Speed Ladder
- Quick Feet Drill
Duration: 20-30 seconds between sets of power and Olympic lifts
