Forcing a fumble? Good.
Recovering a fumble? Also good.
Scoring a touchdown? Very good.
But doing all three on a single play to help your team seal a massive playoff upset? Well, that's just spectacular. It's also exactly what Ryan LaBanc did during Notre Dame Cathedral Latin's recent win over Youngstown Cardinal Mooney in the Division IV Ohio High School playoffs:
Talk about putting the team on your back!
That ended up being the game-winning touchdown for NDCL, who advanced to the regional finals. LaBanc, a 6-foot-1, 231-pound senior linebacker, has been a beast all year. According to MaxPreps, he entered this game with 97 total tackles and 3 interceptions on the season.
The News-Herald outlined LaBanc's abilities in their high school football pre-season preview. "The unquestioned leader of the defense is Ryan LaBanc, a 6-foot-1 senior LB. At 231 pounds, he may be larger than the defensive linemen in front of him, but chances are he won't be beaten to the ball carrier on any play with his motor."
LaBanc reportedly boasts a Bench Press max of 340 pounds and a Power Clean max of 295 pounds. He put that strength to great use on this phenomenal play.
