Rap News Rundown (Jan 22)

Get the latest on Chief Keef, "All My Babies' Mamas" and the rest of this week's rap news through STACK Gamer.

This week's rap news features canceled plans and a lesson learned the hard way.

Chief Keef was sentenced to two months at the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles earlier this week for violating the terms of his parole. Prosecutors argued that the troubled Chicago rapper violated the terms of his probation by doing an interview with the music magazine Pitchfork at a gun range, and the judge agreed. Keef, who told the court he has two young daughters, reportedly broke down in tears several times during the hearing and even pleaded with the judge to reconsider, stating, "I'm a very good person." But the judge was unable to ignore the evidence. He also stripped Keef's uncle and grandmother of their custodial rights and declared Keef a ward of the state.

Oxygen has stopped production on the forthcoming reality TV show, All My Babies' Mamas. The show was slated to feature rapper Shawty Lo in addition to his 11 children and 10 baby mothers. Shortly after a trailer of the show appeared online, an online petition opposing the show quickly amassed nearly 40,000 signatures, forcing the cable channel to respond. An Oxygen rep released a statement to the Hollywood Reporter confirming the decision but promising that the network would "continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation."

Lupe Fiasco has scrapped plans to release a second installment of Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album. Instead, the Chicago-based rapper announced plans to go in another direction with his forthcoming album. He announced the change via Twitter: "Hello. A decision has been made that the project titled 'F&L2 Part 2' will be summarily canceled for public release for 2013. The title/concept for Lupe's 2013 release will be revealed later this year."

Part One of the intended two-part series was released last year and sold 90,000 copies in its first week.
