Although this play was wild in the sense that an NFL wide receiver should never be that open, it's the milestone behind it that's truly remarkable.
On this 62-yard touchdown pass to Tre'Quan Smith, Brees became the NFL's all-time leader in passing yardage, surpassing Peyton Manning's previous mark of 71,940 yards.
"The way it happened, I don't think you could've drawn it up any better," Brees told ESPN after the game.
Brees finished the game with 363 yards and three touchdowns, and he's yet to throw an interception this season.
In the summer of 2017, Brees told STACK he believed his best football wast still ahead of him.
For a quarterback who'd just led the Saints to three consecutive 7-9 seasons, it was a bold claim.
But we learned long ago that you should never doubt Drew Brees.
