The surprises continued into fantasy football Week 4 with again some regular performers failing to make the cut (Tom Brady, anyone) and other players enjoying their first time in the limelight. (Try DRAFT on iOS or Android.)
Here were the top 10 fantasy football performers for Week 4.
1. Le'Veon Bell (RB, PIT)—34.6 points
Surprisingly, Week 4's two top fantasy players were running backs. At Baltimore, Bell amassed an impressive 144 yards on 35 carries with two touchdowns, plus another 42 yards in receptions in the Steelers' 26-9 win over the Ravens.
2. Todd Gurley (RB, LAR)—34.50 points
For the second week in a row, Gurley is atop the fantasy leaderboard. This week 23 rushes for 121 yards, and seven receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown kept him quite busy on the field as the Rams defeated the Dallas Cowboys 35-30.
3. Deshaun Watson (QB, HOU)—33.7 points
This week's fantasy quarterback leader proved not only to be a great rookie quarterback but a great quarterback, period, with some serious potential. In the Texans' 57-14 thrashing of the Tennessee Titans, Watson went 25-of-34 for 283 yards and a whopping four touchdowns. Despite his one interception, Watson completed over 73 percent of his passes and earned a quarterback rating of 125.0. Well done, young man!
4. Cam Newton (QB, CAR)—33.0 points
Newton also fared quite well this week with his 22 completions (out of 29 attempts) for 316 yards and three touchdowns—not to mention eight carries for 44 yards and another score—in the Panthers' surprising 33-30 victory over the New England Patriots.
5. Ezekiel Elliott (RB, DAL)—29.9 points
Elliott rushed for 85 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown and also had four receptions for 54 yards and another score.
6. Greg Zeurlein (K, LAR)—27 points
In our No. 6 spot is the Rams' impressive kicker (a kicker, say what?!) Greg "The Leg" Zeurlein who booted seven field goals and two extra points in Dallas. While wholly impressive, the record for most field goals in a single game is eight, held by former Titan Rob Bironas on Oct. 21, 2007. Including Zeurlein, Cairo Santos (2015), Shayne Graham (2007), Billy Cundiff (2003), Chris Boniol (1996), Rich Karlis (1989), and Jim Bakken (1967) have also made seven in a single game.
7. DeAndre Hopkins (WR, HOU)—26.7 points
Week 4's top wide receiver, Hopkins recorded 10 catches for 107 yards and a score from Watson.
8. Devin Funchess (WR, CAR)—26.0 points
Not far behind Hopkins, the Panthers' Funchess caught seven balls for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
9. Tyler Kroft (TE, CIN)—24.8 points
Starting in place of the injured Tyler Eifert, Kroft had six receptions for 68 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals' 31-7 spanking of the division-rival Cleveland Browns.
10. Houston Texans DST and Seattle Seahawks DST—22 points
Both defenses were quite impressive, indeed. The Texans' squad recorded two sacks, one fumble recovery, one touchdown, and four interceptions and held the Titans to a measly 14 points. Similarly, Seattle's D recorded three sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, and two touchdowns in the Seahawks' 46-18 thrashing of the Indianapolis Colts.
