A-Rod just went yard, big time. On his very first swing of Spring Training, the Yankees DH sent a two-run shot to the moon against the Phillies. Even more impressive is the fact that Rodriguez hadn't taken a live pitching swing at all this year, not even in practice. Even Rodriguez himself was surprised.
"It certainly was surprising," A-Rod told MLB.com. "That was the last thing I was expecting. I hadn't taken a swing on live pitching; that was my first one. It caught me by surprise."

The 40-year old might be finding his second (actually, maybe third or fourth) wind as a full-time DH for the Yankees. Without the added wear and tear of playing in the field, A-Rod might just carry this momentum into a full-blown resurgence this year. He had moderate momentum coming into the season with 33 dingers last year, so we're excited to see what he'll do.
